Elevated above quiet Avon Road in Southbroom South, close to the Umkobi estuary, this exceptional promontory site offers vistas across a gorge of coastal forest, to the ocean.
The natural vegetation of the site comprises forest and grassland, with protected forest trees such as the Cheesewood, Red Beech and Umdoni. A natural, perennial stream borders the property and will be integrated into the landscaping of the development, which will be confined to endemic planting, to create an environment which is congruent with the surrounding coastal forest.
Aerial Site of the Peninsula
Rare Blue Duiker, the Purple Crested Lourie and Fish Eagle are common visitors to the site. Three adjacent stands consolidated into a 15 700 m² development, with approval for seven, freehold stands, will be combined into an exclusive and secure estate. Each site is over 2 000 sq metres.
Peninsula Site Plan Seven free-hold sites assure a low density development, each site measuring a minimum of 2 000 sq metres, with a maximum of 450 sq metres allocated to building coverage. Particular consideration given to the topography and orientation of each site.

While configurations may vary, a common design aesthetic and stringent specifications of building materials ensure a pleasing flow. The design philosophy is informed by the site and its topography, with due consideration of prevailing winds and the inherent beauty of the environs.
Design features utilise natural building materials which aim to create an organic feel, combined with modern features which will ensure low maintenance. Architecture juxtaposes exterior with interior, via wide decked walkways. Space flows into space. Think open plan, double-volume, ceiling fans and lots of natural light.

Do all municipalities accept timber-frame constructions?
A Timber Home has never been turned down by any municipality or regional authority. In fact, time after time, authorities have welcomed the homes on aesthetic grounds. In certain instances the design criteria of a area may be exclusive to either timber or brick construction, in which case one should read the architectural guidelines.

Is insurance greater on a timber-built home?
No, not on a Timber Home.

How durable are timber-built homes?
In South Africa there are many examples of timber homes built more than a century ago (in Europe read 500 years and more). Thanks to modern timber treatments a Timber Home will last indefinitely. All our structural timber is treated against termite infestation and fungal attack.

What about fire rating?
The CSIR and SANS have a set a Code of Practice for timber-frame building (SANS 10082). Timber homes have to meet the same stringent fire rating standards set for brick-built homes.

What about difficult sites?
Timber homes are particularly adaptable for tricky sites which require higher foundations as they are easily suspended at surprisingly little cost. Timber Homes are ideal for isolated, hard to reach sites. The wall structures are pre-made and so on-site construction is relatively simple once the foundations are in place.

What about sound insulation?
Heat? Timber is a superior insulating material. We also insulate external walls and all ceilings. The result: a home that is cool in summer, snug in winter. Noise? With soundproofed partitions, a timber-built construction can achieve a superior decibel rating than that of double brick. Timber Homes also offer the option of an insulated floor. Some improvements come at a marginally extra cost and are not a priority for all of our clients. These are offered as optional extras.
